August - October 2020
For this trip we drove up to Mammoth and started hiking out from the Duck Pass trailhead. We hiked in about 5 miles and set up camp at Pika Lake, above 10,000 feet. On Saturday we did a day hike to Deer Lakes (still freezing cold in August).
A few weeks later we headed back into the Sierras near Lake Crowley. Despite some smoke from the nearby fires, McGee Creek was a beautiful campground. On Saturday we hiked a few miles up the creek, then drove into Mammoth for a coffee.
In late October, I went for an overnight in Joshua Tree National Park. We hiked in a couple miles and set up camp in the backcountry as the sun went down.
