We arrived in Lausanne on Friday night before attending a friend's wedding on Saturday evening. We were at the ceremony and reception for nearly twelve hours, and it was great to catch up with friends from grad school. On Sunday, some of us took a train to Montreux to see the Château de Chillon and then we all met back in Lausanne for dinner.
On Monday morning, Lara and I took a train to Bern. We wandered through the Altstadt and took in views from the top of the Bern Münster, then had a glass of wine at the Rosengarten. We ended the day with a traditional Swiss cheese fondue. The next morning, we visited the Zentrum Paul Klee museum and took the funicular up to the top of Gurten mountain.
The next stop was the medieval town of Luzern. We walked across the bridges Kapellbrücke and Speuerbrücke and through the old town and up to the city walls before the rain drove us back to our hotel. By now we were quite tired of cheese, so we warmed up with some Thai food for dinner. On Thursday morning the weather had cleared, so we rode the cogwheel train up to Mount Pilatus for some incredible views. After riding the cable car down, we saw the Kunstmuseum and the stone lion monument in the afternoon.
On Friday we arrived at our final city, Zürich. We had lunch at Zeughauskeller and in the evening we saw a movie. On the last day we wandered around the old town and saw one last art gallery before the long flight back to LA.
