On the way north, we stopped for a visit to Bodie State Historic Park, a California gold-mining ghost town that once held a population of nearly 10,000 people.
We arrived a day before Lara's race and had time for a few evening hikes, then Saturday morning, Lara ran a sprint triathlon. Afterward we did some kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding on the lake.
