From the trailhead in Yosemite Valley, we hiked in 4 miles along the Mist Trail to Little Yosemite Campground. Next morning we set off for Half Dome, close to 7 miles round trip. In winter the half dome cables are down, which makes the crowds basically nonexistent. We used climbing harnesses and prusiks to make the climb up Half Dome safely. After one more night at camp, we hiked back out to the valley along JMT.
